About the Showcase

What is the Denver Gem and Mineral Showcase?

The Denver Gem and Mineral Showcase is a world-renowned gem, mineral, fossil, and jewelry event held in the Denver metropolitan area, Colorado. As the second-largest showcase of its kind in the United States, it features over 1,000 international vendors across multiple independent show venues. Visitors can explore a vast selection of gemstones, rare minerals, prehistoric fossils, and handcrafted jewelry, alongside educational exhibits and expert demonstrations.

The showcase takes place twice a year, in the Spring (April) and Fall (September). The main fall showcase features sprawling indoor and outdoor venues, led by the National Western Complex and the Denver Coliseum. Admission to most show venues is free to the public.

Wholesale purchasing is widely available across the show grounds. Vendors offering wholesale pricing usually display “Wholesale” or “Wholesale Only” signage at their booths. To qualify for wholesale pricing, you must present a valid state resale license or business tax ID.

Wholesale prices vary depending on quality, specimen rarity, origin, and order volume. Buying directly from primary miners and importers at the showcase offers significant savings compared to standard retail rates.

• Commercial Minerals & Quartz Rough: Typically sold by weight ($5–$20+ per pound depending on grade).
• Faceted & Precious Gemstones (Emeralds, Rubies, Sapphires): Priced individually or per carat based on clarity, color, and cut.
• Fossils & Display Specimens: Priced according to preservation quality, size, and scientific rarity.

The showcase venues are distributed across Denver and neighboring municipalities (such as Westminster and Thornton). Recommended lodging areas include:

Sales Tax Exemption Certificates

To make tax-free wholesale purchases in Denver and Colorado, you must provide a valid sales tax exemption certificate to the vendor at the time of purchase.

In Colorado, vendors accept your state-issued Resale License / Sales Tax Exemption Certificate (or Colorado Form DR 0563).

1. Bring multiple printed physical copies of your valid State Resale Certificate or Tax Exemption Certificate.
2. Present a copy to each vendor alongside your photo ID at checkout.
3. The vendor will verify your business information and remove the state/local sales tax from your invoice.
